Google’s new voice recognition software for the iPhone is finally here. The application which was supposed to be released on Friday as we discussed earlier was released late yesterday. And as expected Google has delivered another very useful and amazing application which does exactly what it supposed to do and does it very accurately.

Google

Voice recognition service has always been a challenge for people for many years. Companies have spent millions to automate their telephone systems and ended up having angry customers because simply the voice recognition systems never worked as expected. So when I first heard about Google’s move on adding this amazing features to its free apps for iPhone & iPod Touch, I was very excited and at the same time was a bit nervous about the whole technology. Because like most of you, I am a big time Googler and last thing I will want is to be disappointed by something from Google. But, I can tell you after installing the application I couldn’t be anymore satisfied.

Google Application

I won’t go on explaining how it works as I’ve done that already, all I can say is this app is amazingly accurate. I’ve tried couple of voice dialer app for iPhone so far and I’ve to admit I uninstalled them after the first use. Because they simply didn’t work to my expectations. Also, the most annoying bit of those voice recognition app is that you have to hold on a section of the screen before you can talk. Voice recognition systems is suppose to make your life easier, how does that make things any easier for you? That is another reason why I didn’t use any of those voice recognition applications.

But, Google has come around that very very and I mean very smartly. You don’t have to hold anything or any section of your iPhone screen while you’re searching for something. All you’ve to do is take your iPhone close to your ear and the motion censor technology will detect it and prepare the app to take voice input. When you take your iPhone close to your ear, you’ll hear a beep which starts recording and you’ll hear another beep after the recording is finished. How smart and thoughtful is that?!? Who but Google would’ve thought about this? Another best feature of the great app is that its searcher are performed based on location. So for the same search say “Pizza” in two different location say Melbourne & Sydney, you’ll get completely different search results. Check out the video demonstration below:

You can also do voice search manually by tapping on the microphone button and speak to it and you can still search for something my typing in the text if you really want to. Other interesting features of the cool applications is the quick access to Google’s other great services such as News, RSS Reader, Photos, etc., making it really handy and a must have application for you iPhone.

You can download the app right now from App Store. Please make sure to turn the Voice Search “On” from the Settings.
