Competition Announcement
We all know the GPS Capability of the second generation iPhone. While it’s very accurate, it’s not as good as TomTom or other GPS on the market. So when is Apple going to bring that kind of application rather than just showing us roads from Google maps? Is it ever going to happen or it’ll just be another release of Apple’s “product enhancements”. Either way, as long as we can see a GPS application for iPhone sometime in the near future which is as good or interactive as TomTom I think we’ll all be pretty happy. I guess the main overhead of using iPhone’s GPS through Google map is if you use it for couple of hours on the road, you have to count on massive data usage and at the moment no Australian providers are offering a huge data pack. So your few hours journey to somewhere can get very expensive.
Anyway, we’re not sure what’s happening with TomTom. Surely they know how demanding iPhone’s GPS market is. When are they going to bring their iPhone’s GPS application? We’ve been hearing this for a while now that TomTom is officially coming to the rescue of users who need a little more from their iPhone GPS. TomTom apparently said they already have an iPhone version of the GPS application ready to go. If that’s the case then what’s the delay? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
