Competition Announcement
The “D Day” is almost here. Today (well, wait till about midnight tonight as we’re about 14 hours behind them) is the day when Apple might “Rock” the world again. Well that is the theme of the event, isn’t it? So we can expect something really exciting. As much as we’re excited about the new iPod and iTunes 8 which as Digg’s Kevin Rose predicted that the iTunes 8 may include a Grid View, Genius Sidebar and another feature that resembles the Pandora Internet radio service; we’re more excited to see the firmware update for iPhone. Well, Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Inc. has confirmed earlier that Apple is aware of iPhone’s current firmware issues and will be fixed in September firmware update. So what better time can Mr. Jobs get than this event!
It’s kind of obvious! We now have to wait and see exactly what the latest firmware 2.1(?) update brings to the iPhone. Other than just adding security patch and 3G reception issues, firmware 2.1 is expected to bring few new features, such as better GPS functionality, which could add true turn-by-turn directions; and the push notification service. Speaking of GPS, I am dying to see something better than just dotted directions. Let’s see how much more added functionality the GPS gets if Apple decides to give it a facelift this time.
Well, that’s all we can expect at this stage. Stay tuned for more details. We’ll bring you the exact outcome of the event as soon as it takes place.
