I’ve explained it thoroughly and more clearly here.

Im having a complete nightmare with this. Have an Iphone that was running 1.1.4 jailbroken/unlocked and have followed this no end of times to the book and cannot get it to work, cannot even turn the phone on now!
When installing itunes 8 – the update to 2.1 goes fine and the screen eventually comes to a “slide for emergency calls” screen but seems to be locked at that point.
I then uninstall and go back to 7.7 – follow everything to the book and get as far as :
10. When it is finished the phone will reboot…Cydia and Installer will NOT be visible.
Mine displays the pineapple which eventually goes with the time ring still remaining and then after a while the iphone goes off – but does not restart it just stays off and I cannot restart.
If I leave it for some time – the time ring eventually appears very slowly and bitty showing in the centre of the screen and I have also had an animate man on the screen with his hands in the air and a foreign speach bubble
I did manage to go back to 1.1.4 but couldnt use my phone as it whilst it did not have any sim locked messages – it wouldnt allow me to dial out.
Any suggestion really welcomed!

Hi
Had already tried that (incidentally the link you have for the quickpnw on the windows instructions is for that mac files)
The latest firwware through ituns is 2.1 and I am suspicious that this is the problem as I took that. I have tried installing back to 2.0.2 and running this process – but still it will not turn on after the restart

Thanks for pointing that out Vince. I’ve updated the link there.
Now, you’ve to upgrade to 2.1 to use this QuickPwn or Pwnage tool version. I’d suggest to restore to factory default NOT just upgrade as you’ve a jailbroken one already. Once your iPhone is restored and updated to the official 2.1 firmware then try the jailbreaking procedure and you shouldn’t have any trouble.
Let us know how you go mate.

Im totally lost now.
I had installed 2.1 when I first started out – and have since taken it back to 1.1.4 and back up to 2.0.2
I have used itunes 8 to restore to 2.0.2 once again and the phone is stuck at the “slide for emergency” screen
To make matters worse now – when running the QuickPWN and getting to the screen of “go” after the hashing screen I get the following message “quickpnw.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close” I have tried clearing temp files and restarting.

If you can get access to a mac computer than try Pwnage or WinPWN in mac.

this is really weird. i cant get quickpwn to start. it says “this application failed to initialize properly (oxc0000135). click on ok to terminate the application.” how about it? do i have to re-download quickpwn? i use windows anyway. and my iphone had been jailbroken before. and i click “update” at itunes, not “restore” as you pointed out. okay thank you, i will really appreciate it if you help me with this.
oh, i downloaded winpwn, and it was no different.

Uninstall and then reinstall Winpwn and see if that helps. If still the same then download winpwn again and reinstall.
Cheers.

This program works fine. just make sure you WAIT for the phone to go into restore mode before doing all the button pressing. If you dont get a countdown on screen your not there yet

Hi, I have a 3G iPhone in Australia. It was already unlocked when I bought it from my service provider. If I jailbreak do I run the risk of it becoming completely useless? Or if i have any problems am I able to simply restore it back to it's factory settings?
thanks

If you face any trouble then u can always reset it back to factory settings very easily.

Hey! I've got this little problem. Since I jailbroke my iphone, the camera has stopped working. It takes the pictures but doesn't save them. The same happens when I try to save a picture from the internet.
Should I restore the software and jailbreak it again?
Thanks for your help!
