Mac OS X 10.5.6 Update Causing Problems for iPhone & iPod Touch
Latest update from the Mac community is that the Mac OS X update 10.5.6 is causing problems for iPhone and iPod Touch. The recent update from Apple seems to have been preventing the Mac computers from identifying the iPhone or iPod Touch in DFU mode. Which basically means that you won’t be able to use PwnageTool or QuickPwn to Jailbreak/Unlock your iPhone on the new OS X.
It seems like a deliberate attempt from Apple to stop people from unlocking / jailbreaking their iPhone to use third party software or to use any cellular network other than their chosen one. But it’s only a matter of time before the solution to this comes out.
There’s a workaround to this problem if you want to take the challenge. As Erica Sadun at Ars Technica explained:
…the problems happen when the device is plugged directly to Macs…you can use DFU mode when your unit is connected via a hub and pwn as normal, even with the 10.5.6 update. As comforting as that advice sounds, you may want to delay your 10.5.6 upgrade until the dev team can be sure and test the USB work-around.
Yap, that’s right. Unless you know exactly what to do and how to do it, we’d suggest you to stay away from updating to 10.5.6 if you’re planning to jailbreak/unlock your iPhone. Apperantly the Dev team is already aware of the issue and may release a solution to the problem very soon.
