Yet again Apple (this time teaming up with AT&T apparently) has played the big brother role by blocking the latest Google mobile voice app. GV Mobile or Google Voice, which seems to bring a big buzz “gives you one number for all your phones, voicemail as easy as email, and lots of cool calling features”. GV Mobile brings the power of Google Voice to your iPhone. It allows you to:

  • Dial numbers via the iPhone address book or typing on the keypad
  • Full SMS support (view historic, reply, send new)
  • Retrieve and delete recent call history
  • Playback and delete voicemails
  • Take calls from different phones other than your iPhone
  • Enable or disable the phones that Google Voice forwards calls to
  • Add or delete phones that Google Voice forwards call to

Like other Apps in the past, Apple seems to think somehow GV mobile doesn’t have a place in the AppStore. Why? Well, Apple knows that better. But it looks like Apple has merely just moved it from its AppStore to the open market by rejecting it as GV Mobile or Google Voice App developer Sean Kovacs has already released it to Cydia, a heaven for jailbroken iPhone owners.

So there you go Apple, you just took the trouble to reject the app which really didn’t make any difference to the developer nor to the end users except for some who is still reluctant to jailbreak their iPhone. Well, I this will be another reason for you to Jailbreak your iPhone if you haven’t done already. And trust me, they way Apple is trying to play their game, you’ll see a lot more like this. So be prepared guys/gals.

Now, even though you can download and install the app you can’t use it unless you’ve a Google voice account. And right now Google allows invite only (remember Gmail’s early days?) registration. To invite yourself, go here: https://services.google.com/fb/forms/googlevoiceinvite/ and put your email address and wait for Google to send you an invite.

If you’re interested to Jailbreak your iPhone then just follow these easy steps and see how good it feels to have the freedom of both worlds.

Here’s a quick demo of the app:

Feel like pizza tonight but don’t feel like picking up the phone and order one? Well, don’t worry. You don’t have to call to order a pizza anymore. Just download the Pizza Hut app from the App Store and select your pizza and order from the comfort of your lounge room. The app has interesting features like shaking your iPhone to add extra sauce and things like that. As interesting as it may sound and even thought the app is available on Australian App Store, it only works for US only at this stage. So you may have to wait for sometime before Australian Pizza Hut catch up with the technology. Until then pick up your phone and order your Pizza the traditional way tonight.

We see the demand on iPhone 3G S because of its need added features and upgraded hardware. A colleague of mine at work could not get one last week because no one has any in stock in Melbourne. That was a surprise for me.

Anyway, that is not the topic of this post. The topic of this post is “How to Jailbreak and Unlock Your iPhone 3G S“. If you’ve got one then I am sure you’ve been thinking about Jailbreaking/Unlocking it (if you haven’t done it already). If you’re reading this article then chances are that you haven’t done that yet. So, here comes the step by step procedures (thanks to our forum member) to Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone 3G S. Just follow these steps carefully and you’ll have your latest and fastest iPhone 3G S Jailbroked and Unlocked in no time. Good Luck!

Before we look into this latest iPhone accessory I should ask, how many iPhone or iPhone Touch do you have? 1, 2 or 3? If the answer is more than one then you may consider looking at this new accessory for iPhone which has been introduced in Japan. It’s an ultra small server rack that allows racking up to 5 iPhone or iPod Touch. Why do you want to build a server with your iPhone? Well I don’t see any good reason but some of you may find it useful, who knows!

Well, this is a really hard one. If you aren’t happy with your iPhone case protection and looking for a harder, tougher one then you may consider looking at this steel case by EXOvault. As the name suggests it provide vault-like protection for your iPhone. Really!! Why do we need this kind of protection for that bulky metal look again? Well I am confused, are you? Anyway, if you can somehow justify it then make sure you have some spare cash lying around as you will need USD $95 for Aluminium/Brass version and USD $300 for the Titanium to get hold of one.

I’ll leave it to you now to decide.

If you’re over the moon with the Sygic turn by turn GPS application for iPhone then wait till you see TomTom releases its GPS app. Not only TomTom’s announcement at the WWDC has become the talk of the moment but also its share price rose by 17%. So you can clearly see the interest of people.

It’s just not the app that everyone is talking about, it’s the car kit that’s got everyone talking. As TomTom says the TomTom solution combines two new TomTom products to provide users with state of the art in-car navigation on their iPhone 3G:

  • The TomTom navigation application for iPhone; an Apple version of TomTom’s award-winning turn-by-turn navigation software, including IQ Routes and latest maps;
  • The TomTom car kit for iPhone; a specially developed car kit for secure docking, enhanced GPS performance, clear voice instructions, hands-free calling and in-car charging.
Pretty cool, ay? Like all of you, we can’t wait to get our hands on it and to release a full review. So stay in touch.

Here’s the video demo:

I am sure you have read about iPhone 3GS’ overheating problem. Or you may have even experienced it already. While you might be thinking it’s a random thing, it actually is not. Apple has loosely accepted the fact (though no official announcements) and has issued a support article about it. So if you’re having the same problem then try following their suggestions and see if it works for you.

If you’ve got your hands on the new iPhone, the iPhone 3GS and wondering when will you be able to unlock or jailbreak your device then don’t worry. Because just couple days after the release of iPhone 3GS Dev team has released it’s unlock. Here’s what they had to say about the ultrasn0w unlock for iPhone 3GS.

Our ultrasn0w program uses the at+xlog crash as an injection vector of our unlocking payload — and it does so on the 3GS in exactly the same way as on the 3G!  But this injection vector will be lost if you update to 3.1 using the official Apple IPSW, which updates the baseband.  So stay away from official 3.1 IPSWs until we release the tools that let you update the firmware without updating the baseband.

Watch the brief video demonstration below:

As promised by the Dev team it didn’t take them long to release ultrasn0w to soft unlock your iPhone 3G to use any SIM card. So if you haven’t upgraded to OS 3 yet because you’ll loose your soft unlock then you’ve nothing to worry about anymore. Just follow these steps and you’ll have your iPhone with the latest firmware and with your chosen phone provider.

But before you can follow these procedure to soft unlock your iPhone 3G, you’ve to first Jailbreak it. So if you haven’t done that yet then do so by following the steps here.

  1. Go to Cydia on your iPhone
  2. Then go to “Manage” from the bottom menu navigation
  3. Select or tap on “Sources” under the Manage section
  4. Once you’re on the Sources section, click on “Edit” on the top right hand side of the screen
  5. Then you’ll see the “Add” button will show up on the top left hand side of the screen
  6. Click on “Add”
  7. Now put this URL: repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or Icy.  (That last “o” is actually the number zero “0”!)  on the popup box and hit “Add Source” and the ultrasn0w software source will be added on the sources list
  8. Once completed, click on “Return to Cydia”
  9. Now to go Search and search for ultrasn0w
  10. When found, click to install and you’re almost done
  11. Now restart your iPhone by holding down both the power and home button for few seconds and leave both the buttons when you see the Apple logo
  12. Wait for your iPhone to be restarted completely
  13. Once restarted, wait for 10-15 seconds for your iPhone to show the new phone network
  14. That’s it!! You’ve an unlocked iPhone 3G with OS 3 and a lot of freedom
  15. Enjoy!!

Well, it’s been a long week since Apple released OS 3 and the new faster and smarter iPhone 3G S. Not sure how excited you all are about the new iPhone 3G S, to be honest I am not at all excited about the new one. Why, because I don’t see any real added value to it. Well, if I didn’t have an iPhone then I might have gone for the new one but since I have an iPhone 3G, I don’t think I’ll fall for the new one. Some of you may not agree with me here. So, share your experiences and see what you think.

So, we that the Dev team is alway at it and they’re quick to be on it this time again. Now that baseband isn’t an issue at all, I am sure a lot of you have already upgraded to the latest firmware. Well, I have. Though my iPhone is currently un-useable without the official (useless Telstra sim card), I am not worried about it too much as yellowsn0w will be out and about really soon. Anyway!

So, as always first generation iPhone is fully un-lockable by PwnageTool or QuicPwn. It’s the iPhone 3G which is not yet un-lockable but as I said earlier you don’t have to wait for long.

Now, if you want to unlock first generation iPhone or jailbreak iPhone 3G then just follow the instructions here and you’ll have your iPhone with OS 3 unlocked or jailbroken.

Good Luck!
