Oakley’s latest creation is not exactly what you think it should be. It’s not a sunglass or any other accessories but it’s an application that gives you global surfing condition reports. Oakley in conjunction with Surfline, developed this iPhone & iPod Touch app which gives you up to the minute information on surf and weather conditions. The app also provides information on the surf community and culture including news, photos and videos.

You can find locations by region, state, city, etc. Once you drill down to your location, you can see the surf conditions, weather forecast, sunrise/sunset times, safety notices & reports and you can find these information for the next two days. The app also allows to add a location to your favorites list and gives you option to find direction to the beaches through integrated Google maps.

The community section of the application brings you the news, photos and videos of surfing events around the world. The information of Oakley Team Riders and the biography of the team members are also available on the community section.

Overall it’s a must have app for the surfers all around the world. Doesn’t matter whether you’re a novice or pro surfer, this app has all the information you need to hit the wave around you. And top it up, the graphics of the app is just mind blowing.

I personally think this is a dream come true for all the surfers and also for the curious minds who wants to check out some big waves around a new place they’re traveling. You should download the app and check it out yourself though it may not work as well for Australians as it would for other countries.
