Unlock iPhone 2.0.2 (JailBreak)
Developers are at it again! No matter how hard Apple tries to block all those loop holes, developers always find ways to work around that. And it doesn’t take them long. And it didn’t take them long this time either to come out with the latest WinPwn to Jailbreak iPhone firmware 2.0.2. Here’s how:
Note: Please do it at your own risk. We’ve done it and didn’t face any problem but if anything goes wrong with yours then we’re not responsible for it.
Jailbreaking iPhone / iPod Touch in Windows
- Connect your iPhone or iPod Touch to your computer and open iTune
- Update your iPhone or iPod Touch with the latest firmware 2.0.2 from iTune
- Create a folder called WinPwn
- Download the IPSW file from here and save the IPSW file to the WinPwn folder
- Download QuickPwn 1.5.1 RC3 from here
- Save it to the same WinPwn folder you’ve just created
- Close iTune when your iPhone or iPod Touch is updated with the new Firmware 2.0.2
- Now run QuickPwn and select your device: iPhone, iPod Touch or iPhone 3G and click Next
- Brows the IPSW file you’ve downloaded earlier and click Next
- Keep all items selected except “Replace boot logo”, unless you want to replace your iPhone logo with the “pinaple” logo
- You’re now ready to create the custom Firmware 2.0.2. Click Go
- Follow the instruction and turn off your iPhone when it’s ready
- Put your iPhone into DFU mode when instruction comes up on the screen
- Follow the instruction on the screen to put your iPhone into DFU mode
- Now wait for your iPhone to turn back on
- Bingo!! You’ve got a Jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch 2.0.2

Does this really unlock the phone? I thought the quickpwn only jailbroke it. Thanks.
August 29th, 2008 at 6:41 am
Followed all instructions and was left with a “stuck at pineapple” phone.
quickpwn says it’s only valid for 2.0.1…. Has ANYONE had this actually work for 2.0.2?
-3g iphone
-optus
-never jailbroken before
August 29th, 2008 at 7:22 am
what do you mean by “stuck at pineapple”? Also have you upgraded to 2.0.2 firmware first?
August 29th, 2008 at 8:04 am
-updated to 2.0.2
-rebooted phone
-tried steps located here
-BOOM, on reboot it has the pineapple for 10+ minutes
I finally gave up and did a factory restore. However, quickPWN 1.5.1 RC3 is out as per http://sleepers.net/news/2008/08/21/quickpwn-202-is-out/
I’m trying the same steps with 1.5.1 and will report back in 10-15 minutes

Cool…would love to hear your experience with the 1.5.1..let us know if you’ve done something different than what was listed here..
August 29th, 2008 at 8:58 am
1.5.1 RC3 from the link provided works flawlessly.
I advise against using 1.2.
August 29th, 2008 at 9:02 am
I followed your instructions both times, to the letter.
1.2 gave me infinite pineapple.
1.5.1 RC3 (as in my last post) worked flawlessly! On top of that, it’s a LOT NICER. No command line popping up and it auto-initiates the reload sequence for you.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience guys. Your input means a lot to us as we always want to make sure that whatever we do, we do it right. So thank you very much for sharing your findings with us. Also, I’ve just updated the QuickPwn link from 1.2 to 1.5.1 RC3. Thanks to “bbqninja”. Nice nick by the way

Hello, I’ve never done a jailbreak before but I’m willing to try it for my IPhone 3G (already updated to v 2.0.2), I just have 3 quick questions that I hope someone could answer for me:
1.- If I jailbreak the IPhone will I be losing any benefits or obligations that my current cell carrier’s plan have, (i.e. will I lose any cell signal -unlikely I know-, will I have any problems with the 3G or EDGE network, etc), and more important is there any way that my cell carrier could know of this?
2.-Will the WiFi connectivity (or the whole cell system for that matter) still work the same?
3.- If I experience any problems with the IPhone after the jailbreak or simply don’t like th change can I return it to the original state? and if so, how?
Thanks in advance for any reply.
bye

Hi PhoneHome,
Here’s your answers:
1. Answers to all your questions here is No. But if it bricks our iPhone (which is very very unlikely) during the process then your warranty will void.
2. We didn’t have any problem at all. But result may very on your situation. But so far we didn’t have any trouble neither did we hear from anyone.
3. Yes. You just have to connect to iTune and restore it from there.
The performance of your iPhone may vary depending on how many third party software you install. If you install too many then you may see a bit of lag using your iPhone. But if you keep it to minimum then you shouldn’t have any problem.
Hope this helps. Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.
Cheers.

September 7th, 2008 at 1:22 am

September 9th, 2008 at 12:08 am
Me again, just a quick question: If I have Cydia and Installer on my Iphone (jailbraked of course), I won’t be able to download and use anything from the apps store?, because I have since downloaded “taptap revenge” and “units”, and I can’t seem to get them running, is this correct?
Thanks
September 9th, 2008 at 12:39 am
Nope, you should be able to download and run any games and applications from the App Store. Uninstall and then reinstall again and you should be fine.

My phone is now keeps restarting itself.
I think i'm just gonna pay for it to be unlocked. Silly paying so much for a phone which i'm gonna wreck by jailbreaking it! I can't even get it to restore now.
October 31st, 2008 at 1:18 pm
i did this with iphone 3g and it said it worked fine and everything went through, except when it came back on it was exactly the same no cydia or nothing
October 31st, 2008 at 8:31 pm
did u by any chance unticked cydia? recreate the IPSW and re do it again, it will be a bit annoying but I am sure it will work..
November 13th, 2008 at 2:48 am
I have followed allthe instructions but when my phone turned back on I do not have the icons for Cydia neither Installer. I tied it twice but no chance for me. Please let me know I need to get some apps
November 13th, 2008 at 6:16 am
Please try recreating the IPSW file and make sue you're selected both Cydia and Installer. I don't really see any other reason than this for those two not showing up..cheers.

sorry guys i am new to this, but the question is : what is the difference between jailbreak and unlocking the phone???? i have iphone working on fido and i had to travel overseas, i wonder how to make it work on overseas networks??? do i unlock it or jailbreak it plz answer it is urgent.
thx.
December 7th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Hey trio, the difference is, you can use any SIM on your Unlocked iPhone where as you can only run third party software on your Jailbroken iPhone. So for your purpose, you'll need to unlock your iPhone. Hope this helps. Let us know if there's anything else.
December 15th, 2008 at 9:33 am
Every thing has worked fine but now i can not conect to he Vodafone network in australia. can anyone help??
December 16th, 2008 at 6:25 am
It may because you haven't followed the SIM card instructions properly…please check out the SIM instructions here and I am sure it will work: http://www.iphonewiki.com.au/unlocking-iphone-3…
December 17th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
does this unlock the iphone then.
December 18th, 2008 at 10:22 am
Yes, the first gen iPhone not iPhone 3G..
December 26th, 2008 at 12:58 am
Thanks a lot for the instructions. I just have a question; does jailbreaking an iphone (purchased from Rogers/Fido) void or affect the iphone warranty? Thanks again.
December 27th, 2008 at 1:38 pm
Yes, it will void warranty. But you can always restore it back to official factory settings if you ever have to take it back to Apple.

I jail broke and upgraded my Iphone from 1.1.4 to 2.2 and unfortunately selected to replace the boot logo and got the Pineapple. Will someone please tell me how to get back to the original Iphone boot logo
January 6th, 2009 at 1:42 am
You've to re-create the customised IPSW and when you do please make sure that you un-tick those logos. This means you've to jailbreak your iPhone again.
January 20th, 2009 at 5:16 pm
I used quickpwn 2.2 and it worked OK but the phone now has a flat signal so can not make calls
SIM card works in other phones
Tried to reinstall apple version but did not fix the problem
Any ideas
January 21st, 2009 at 7:14 pm
which version of firmware are you trying to upgrade to? 2.0.2 or 2.2?
January 29th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
Ok, i managed to jailbreak my iPhone 3G v2.2.1 using QuickPwn!
I'm with Fido (in Montreal, QC) and now that the phone is jailbrocken the carrier appears as ROGERS instrad of FIDO! I'm kind of freaking out as i don't want to be charged extra for not being on Fido's network!! When i go to setting and change the carrier back to Fido it doesn'T change and remains Rogers! :S
Is this normal, will i pay extra fees?! Is there a way for me to “lock it” to Fido?
February 3rd, 2009 at 9:24 pm
that's strange…jailbreak doesn't change carrier..can you use ROGERS? can you make any calls or it's just showing the frequency?
April 8th, 2009 at 12:20 am
Thank you so much for pimping my iphone ..actually it worked in less than 5 m without any hassle ,,, it is the best and EASIEST jailbreaking tool…
June 7th, 2009 at 5:11 am
I did the install and everything appeared to go fine, the pineapple shows up. There is no installer or Cydia on the phone now though. I tried again and made sure that I'd selected the boxes for those two things but still nothing. What's more, the second time round I did it to make sure that I'd selected the boxes, the phone constantly resets itself now over and over. Any thoughts?
