Jailbraking iPhone 3G and the latest version of the software 2.0.1 has never been so easier. The latest 2.0.2 PwnageTool application is available to Jailbreak your iPhone 3G and have the freedom of having fun of both worlds. Here’s how to Jailbreak your iPhone 3G v2.0.1.

Note: Please do it at your own risk. We’ve done it a few times and didn’t face any problem but if anything goes wrong with yours then we’re not responsible for it.

Please make sure that you backup your iPhone before you start doing anything. Then upgrade your iPhone to the latest version 2.0.1 and proceed with the jailbreak process.

Before you start, please make sure that you’ve latest iTunes v7.7 is installed and for windows please make sure any previous Winpwn is removed from your computer. Also make sure that SIM card is out while you restore the iPhone 3G. Once the restore with the custom IPSW is completed, disconnect your iPhone and put the SIM card in and connect the iPhone to your computer again. Your iPhone will then ask you to put the PIN number if there’s any. If not then you’re ready to use your unlocked phone with your chosen carrier. If you don’t follow the SIM card instructions I’ve explained here, then your phone will receive your carrier signal but wouldn’t work. So it’s important that you follow the SIM card instruction carefully as well.

Unlock (Jailbreak) iPhone 3G v2.0.1 in Mac

Here’s the steps to unlock iPhone 3G v2.0.1.

  1. Download the PwnageTool from here.
  2. Download the Restored IPSW from here.
  3. Make sure both PwnageTool and Restored IPSW is in the same location
  4. Run the PwnageTool.app click on Expert Mode from the top menu
  5. Then select your iPhone type and click the next arrow at the bottom right
  6. The PwnageTool will find the Restored IPSW
  7. Select the second one (iPhone1,2_2.0.1_5B108_Restore.ipsw) and click the next arrow at the bottom right
  8. On the next page, select “General” and click the next arrow at the bottom right
  9. Untick “Activate the Phone” and leave the rest as it is and click the next arrow at the bottom right
  10. Keep clicking next until you see two images
  11. Once you see the images, untick both of them – Boot Logo & Recovery Logo and click the next arrow
  12. This will bring you back to the home screen
  13. Select “Build” and click next arrow
  14. This will ask you to select a location to create the Custom Restore IPSW file (iPhone1,2_2.0.1_5B108_Custom_Restore.ipsw)
  15. Save it on the same location (you can save this file anywhere you want)
  16. This will take a few minutes to create the Custom IPSW file
  17. Once created please follow the instruction on the screen to put your iPhone on DFU
  18. Once the iPhone is on DFU you mode, iTune will automatically open up and will be ready to restore your iPhone
  19. Press alt/option and click on restore at the same time to select the custom IPSW you’ve just created
  20. And you’re done
  21. Once the restore is completed please follow the SIM card instruction I explained above
  22. And finally Sync with your iTune to get all your data from the backup

Unlock (Jailbreak) iPhone 3G v2.0.1 in Windows

Here’s the steps to unlock iPhone 3G v2.0.1 in Windows.

  1. Download the Winpwn from here: winpwn_2.0.0.1_Setup.zip
  2. First of all create a custom IPSW using the IPSW Builder.
  3. Click “Ipwner” and browse to the custom IPSW that you have just created. This will allow you to flash Custom IPSW files via DFU mode
  4. Once IPSW is created, put the iPhone into DFU mode.
  5. When the iPhone is in DFU mode iTunes will open automatically and find the iPhone
  6. After iTune has opened and ready to restore the iPhone, please hold Shift and click Restore and browse to the custom IPSW file and click restore.
