Want to unlock your iPhone 3G without paying a cent to your phone provider? Then don’t and I repeat DO NOT update to iPhone Firmware 2.2 with the official IPSW from iTunes. Also do not use Quickpwn to jailbreak your iPhone 3G when that becomes available. Why? Because that’s the warning Dev team giving to everyone. This is what they said on their blog:

  1. GOLDEN RULE: If you have a 3G iPhone and want potential soft unlock in the near future do NOT use QuickPwn, and do not use the official ipsw or the iTunes update process without using PwnageTool.
  2. Read item 1 again and again.

So, if you care for a soft unlock in the very near future then we suggest don’t update to the latest 2.2 firmware but if you don’t care about the unlock and are happy with your current phone provider then please go ahead and upgrade to 2.2.
